Welcome to our crash course in equally shared parenting. We are
not here to convince you to
try equal sharing. We just happen to think we (and many other
couples) practice a
tragically overlooked parenting option that everyone should know about,
and IF it is right for you, we’d love to help you achieve it. The
essays below are devoted to one of the four domains of
sharing: Breadwinning, Childraising, Housework and Time for Self. Here we cover
either general benefits and challenges
or practical how-to tips and tricks
for each domain. The contents of each essay represent our
opinions and
experience, and those of many other couples we have met and interviewed
who live this way; we are not sociologists specializing in the study of
gender equality (see Resources
for some excellent
sociological studies) but rather everyday
practitioners. Please contact us if you would like to suggest a
new topic. Note: These essays work best after you have
already read 'What
is
Equally
Shared
Parenting?',
our primer on parenting equality.
You will, of course, find a much more
in-depth discussion of the benefits, challenges and practice of equally
shared parenting in our book, Equally Shared Parenting: Rewriting the
Rules for a New Generation of Parents (now also in
paperback).
